Melissa and Miller Interiors is a highly-acclaimed, international interior design firm, specialising in bespoke high-end interior design. Founded by Melissa Bodie and Kathryn Miller, this design firm creates projects where comfort and functionality are as paramount as luxury and style.
Melissa and Miller Interiors designed a sophisticated house in central London inspired by the Hamptons Beach Houses: the designers used the warmth, colours and comfort, often founded in these houses, as the main inspiration for this project.
So it is no wonder that Melissa and Miller Interiors were approached to design this house in central London. The designers were very mindful of the local urban environment and the need to elevate the look to match the sophistication of the clients, combining the ease and relaxed-vibe found in the Hamptons.
The clients, along with their two children, love to have an open house for their friends and family; entertaining is at the forefront of their minds. So, the designers took the lead from them by creating an open-plan kitchen and a family room space. Even the home’s entrance is vast and open – large enough for a party, yet intimate enough for just the clients to enjoy.
With a little help from us, with our Nº20 Armchairs, Melissa and Miller Interiors were capable of filling the living room with bold colours – clementine, citron, cobalt – that act as the central focus to the soothing aquas, warm whites and wood accents.
As told by Melissa and Miller, Nº20 Armchairs were a perfect complement to the relaxed, bespoke sofas. The strength and grounding the chairs offer the room, combined with the femininity and subtlety of its open arms, provided a grandness yet ease to the living room.
Symbol of knowledge and rebirth, Nº20 Armchair was raised through a long journey of 24 prototypes. This fabric chair, fully upholstered in twill, features a nailhead trim that adds subtle sophistication. Full of strength and determination, it is sure to impress.
Plus, the designers specifically sourced a chair with gorgeous back detail and openness, so that the pieces were flattering from any angle – particularly when coming up from the terrace outside.
For Melissa and Miller, this was an exciting project – “It’s always an exciting challenge to “dig deep” in the subterranean London ground, and this project was no exception (the kitchen and office spaces are both below-ground level). And staying innovative, as it is always critical to us to steer away from repeating any looks we’ve created in the past”.
Rather than enforcing a generic “house style,” Melissa and Miller Interiors see each client as an opportunity to start the designs from scratch. By reviewing the clients’ lifestyle, budget and design sensibility, they create a truly individual look and feel for each client.
