Colour trends 2021 is something we need, urgently! Since 2020 has been a rough year – and it is still not over! – we have been spending more time at home, either be it for working or for simply just staying isolated, and it seems that we will be going to spend a lot more time at home in these last months of this fateful year. So, let’s start in 2021 by freshening up the space that is our home, office, and so much more!

There are six distinct colour themes within the palette as well, with shades paired together based on their stylistic compatibility. All 21 colours work together, so you can mix-and-match until you find a style that fits your aesthetic best.
“This has been a year of unpredictability and 2020 has significantly changed our relationship with our home. When our colour team began exploring a palette for the coming year, we knew it needed to be grounded in what we have been craving: comfort and personalisation,” says Erika Woelfel, vice president of colour at Behr.
Just because comfort was a key factor in determining this year’s palette does not mean the Behr team skimped on style for even a second. The palette Behr decided on is comprised of 21 unique shades they predict will be all the rage when it comes to interior and commercial design in 2021.
In this collection of shades, “light and cosy neutrals offer an updated take on the casual farmhouse look, achievable with warm-toned hues,” according to the Behr team.
Optimistic View is a mix of bright, luxe shades, evoking a Mediterranean or 1970s glam vibe.
Fans of pastels are sure to love the Subtle Focus theme, which features softer shades inspired by modern versions of Art Deco design and styling.

While comfort is an overarching theme throughout the entire 2021 trends palette, the Calm Zone theme in particular features colours tailored for our desire for self-care and wellbeing.
For homes that prefer to make a statement, the Quiet Haven theme is comprised of darker, evocative colours, fit for traditional and maximalist decor.
If you are not looking to update your interiors in 2021 but still crave a colour refresh, consider one of the exterior-friendly shades from the Outdoor Escape theme.
