The city of glamour, high-end design and fashion – everything in Paris seems to be impeccable. Parisian chic can obviously be noticed in the interior design as well. It may even be said that Parisian chic is what defined sophisticated style. So, if you dream about turning your home decor into a perfectly furnished Parisian apartment, follow the advice of the Home Inspiration Ideas Blog.
French people are quite traditional when it comes to interior design. They appreciate their classic, historic apartments situated in the city center (the ones with a view of the Louvre would naturally be most appreciated) but they do not want to live in a museum of their own, and prefer a rather modern furniture mixed one with some antiques and heirlooms – which sums up to evergreen eclectic interior design.
Although we get the general impression of opulence, there is nothing flashy about the Parisian chic interiors. The walls in most of the cases are painted white (that brings out the historic ornaments detail), the rest of the color palette concentrates of shades of pale beige, blue and grey. If there would be some bright colors, they would most probably be an accent. Also, pay attention to detail – Parisians may have only a few furniture items, but the ones they do have are in the best quality they can afford – after all, art de vivre is what they are so well known for.
The Parisians make sure that their living rooms represent their class and general good taste. A vintage, brass chandelier paired with a tall mirror in a gilded frame is a must. As for the choice of sofas, pick those from top design companies, preferably those who have a certain mid-century feel incorporated in a modern design. When choosing a coffee table – choose the one with a brass frame, with a glass top. It would not make the room seem cluttered, and it would not hide the view of the rug on the herringbone floor (or any wooden parquet). If you are a lucky owner of a fireplace of your own – show it by arranging the mantelpiece with a well-though set of home decoration accents.
A perfect place for displaying some art – a portrait of simply a set of vintage frames instantly makes the place a lot more distinguished. Here is another place where you would hang a chandelier in your soon-to-be Parisian chic apartment. It would go perfectly well with the brass or upholstered frame of the bed. It is also the place where you should give yourself some space for indulging in the richness of textures and fabrics – play with the combinations of long silk curtains and velvet upholstery.
Obligatory black and white. Your number one choice for interior design materials should be marble – or good quality mosaic tiles; sometimes a good solution would also be wooden panels for the walls. Find a place for hanging a giant-sized mirror so that it reflects the entire room – and makes it seem bigger than it actually is.
Another room where a black-and-white color scheme plays a crucial role. Marble countertops are a frequently seen solution, being both practical and elegant. Remember to add also some green accents to your Parisian style kitchen (with either plants or accents of muted green shades on the furniture) – the green color is known for its positive impact on your mood, and it would be perfect for the place where you are taking your first French style coffee, non?
