THANK YOU FOR YOUR REQUEST
We will be in touch soon.
Lars Myren is the owner of LM Design Studio, one of the world’s prestigious firms for residential and commercial interior design. Lars Myren was the guest of the most recent edition of Design Talks, an initiative started by Home’Society desire to explore all things in interior design. According to Home’Society, the design process is based on communicating, debating, and investigating concepts, and the idea is to provide a platform that offers the community of design enthusiasts a fresh perspective on the developments in the sector.
While growing up, Lars Myren did a lot of things, he lived abroad in London, Spain, and traveled around for fifteen years. He went back to Norway for family reasons, where he was for some time a manager of a shop but later on, he had to rethink what he really wanted in life and what really mattered to him. His passion for interior design was always there, and in 2017 he started his own company.

When asked about his inspirations Lars answered ” My major inspiration comes from actually Anouska Hempel, a legendary. Her designs and philosophy just strike straight in the soul. Also, another English interior designer, that said to me “feel the fear and do it anyway”. And the Happy Clients, they actually the ones giving him the strength to do his job every day. Getting messages or seeing his clients walk around the house smiling, getting to see something going from sketch to the mood board, to 3D, and finally to life, is what he found really rewarding and inspiring.
” First I listen to the client, what are their needs, what are their passion, and what they like. That is the main worry. I create a lot of places, holistic designs, places that feel inspired, that are relaxing for just be. In my own design style, I will combine unexpected materials, that are probably from up here (head), that alone does not work but you put them in a room, in synergy, and they work really well. ” – Lars Myren
“Life is an Aesthetic Act”. Lars Myren says that in his design and life as well, he always creates beauty. It doesn’t matter where it sits in the room, but he always has a straight vision of something beautiful. “For example, you are in a lounge, but you have a straight vision to the bedroom, see the beauty all the way through, with no obstruction – and that is how I perceive life”.
Lars loves the tradition and loves the modern too. He always has to put everything on an edge a bit, like a challenge. LM Design Studio creates modern rooms with personality and character but at the same time, they are Timeless and luxurious spaces. In every project, he challenges himself to learn something new from the project, because with being an interior designer, you are never fully nerk. He believes that challenging himself and his clients out of their comfort zone is where the beauty comes from.
When asked about what he thought have been his biggest challenges, Lars said “Well, it is a challenge what we have been seeing now, the shipping, the delivering time, an obstruction in production. I have to learn the means of every culture. In Asia, they operate differently from Norway, so it is important to get to know the culture and the mentality and people, but I feel I came a long way with it, just by listening to the people”. Lars Myren also mentioned the Pandemic and thinks he sees a bigger opportunity for remote design, it demands a little more planning and logistics, but since we are more comfortable with digital, the clients can have a bigger picture from the way it will look.
” I do not follow the trends, I mold the trends. Our spaces are supposed to come more personal and reflect who we are.” – Lars Myren
When asked if there was anything he would consider adding to the board, Lars answered “Yes, always. The young designer, see the world in a completely different way, we can learn from them and that is really inspiring.” And as the best advice, you can give to any designer, Lars Myren gave the advice that he got: ” Feel the fear and do it anyway. Be true and loyal to your clients, and just have fun”.
