She shows how a house’s color scheme remains in keeping with the iconic location, the design achieves unexpected levels of greatness thanks to creative interpretations of classic Greek-island style, from furnishings repurposed in surprising ways to unlikely pattern pairings.

Add architectural detail. A spare white-and-blue color paint ideas, gets a hint of dimension with a ribbed ceiling, which is colorfully linked with a wide-plank painted wood floor.
Kathryn Ireland print dresses up the family room’s double chaise longue; an Irini Gonou collage is mounted above the sofa, and the captain’s chair in the foreground and the painted chest at rear left are Greek antiques.
Rethink formal gathering spaces. Make a dining room decoration more inviting with a bench instead of chairs. Here, López-Quesada piled a Greek bench with an eclectic mix of patterned pillows created a sense of intimacy.

Recast furnishings to give them new life. In the living room design, a canopy bed with a tufted cushion inhabits a spot usually reserved for a matching sofa in a traditional seating area.
An Isabel López-Quesada–designed canopy bed bisects a living room. The ribbed wood ceiling and painted floor are typical of Spetses; flamboyant shell mirrors hang above the vintage consoles.
Embrace curtains. López-Quesada designed the master bedroom’s curtained four-poster; an antique French chaise longue stands at its foot.

Forget the subway tile. For a burst of color and pattern in an otherwise subdued kitchen, decorator Isabel López-Quesada installed a row of antique tiles to create an unexpected backsplash that is both timeless and au courant.
